Magnolia Grove

Ba Da Mountain Tall-Tree White Tea 2024
$64.00
Size2oz

Description

The rich, enchanting essence of the tall, old trees is captured in Magnolia Grove, perhaps due to the biodiverse ecological environment and minimal processing. This Bai Cha or White Tea is made in a very simple, traditional way- wilted in natural sunlight- which keeps the original fresh taste of the raw leaves even after drying. Flavors and aromas of orchid, green stems, rain on wet leaves, light sugar, osmanthus and hints of melon evolve through patient steepings. The raw material comes from Ba Da, a famous mountainous region of Menghai at an altitude of 1580- 2000 m. The energy is gently yang and uplifting. Generally, white tea is ideal for warm days, bringing coolness to the body and delicate, sweet flavors that harmonize digestion.

We received this tea from a family-owned small business, established in 1931. Their tea mountains were confiscated by the communist government in the early 50's. Fifty some years later, in 2006, Yiwei Chen, the son of the founder, and his daughter Weiqing Chen, revived the abandoned tea mountains and resumed their family business. They own a total of more than 2,800 high-quality wild tea trees, most of which are at least a couple hundred years old. These trees have been growing in the biodiverse Menghai region of Yunnan, which has an ideal climate for tree growing. All Chenxi teas are made by hand using the traditional method. The family motto is: Be an honest person and make the best tea. We’re grateful to share their beautiful teas with you.

Soul Soothing Sweetness

This tea is absolutely delicious ! Brilliant yellow and smooth, with bright floral notes of orchids and a refreshing honey-like sweetness that only deepened throughout many cups. A very patient tea, we brewed about 10 cups and the leaves still had so much to say.

I was really moved by this teas backstory, this reclamation of once abandoned ancestral lands. It was a fascinating topic to contemplate over the course of many cups… returning to the abandoned parts of ourselves.

I found the Cha Qi to be deeply settling yet uplifting. This tea truly brightens the eyes! Wow ! The world around me seemed brighter, felt like being calm and lucid in a beautiful dream. A good choice for hot summer days. A good companion for returning to ourselves ~

harmonizing sweetness

Magnolia Grove feels like a perfect summer day - vibrant yellow, uplifting and full of floral brightness, smooth almost creamy, with perfect underripe mango sweetness and subtle astringency. I enjoyed this tea by a crystal clear river, which together made me feel more alive and harmonized with my environment - as if my breath, the tea, and being submerged in the water all had the same viscosity and quality. I love how the later steepings grow lighter and sweeter, like climbing a ladder into the heavens.
