7581 Shou Puerh Brick, 1990's

Super dark, deep, complex, thick, wet fermented tea with Autumn flavors of pumpkin squash and mushrooms.  This tea carries the deep yin energy of descent like the first days of Autumn. Extremely patient, it slows you down and brings you into the body.  The mushroom flavors and yin energy gained this beautiful tea its name. When you step on the ground in the forest, the mycelial web registers the movement like a nervous system and communicates your presence to the whole forest. When we slow down, we can feel our interconnectedness with life, especially if we’re drinking this tea amidst the trees and mycelial kingdom.

Old Tree Pre-qingming Red Tea, 2025

I recently found myself drinking this tea day after day. It’s intensely flavorful, sustains a sensational mouthfeel, carries Dian Hong malty complexity and layered astringency. A pleasantly bitter finish gives structure to the tea. I like brewing it a bit lighter to emphasize the sweetness. The energy isn’t too stimulating for a red tea, but has more upwards energy than the other teas this season, ideal for late summer days when we’re still active and frequently outside.  

The name nectar of the bee speaks to the juicy thickness of the tea, and the pleasant sweetness. There’s a gentle buzziness to the energy that feels like bees tending to flowers.

Ancient Tree Gongting Shou Puerh, 2025

This tea reminds me of the first fallen leaves of Autumn, deep forest springs, sweetly aromatic loam, and late-season vegetables. This is a tea to drink when the first chill is detected in the air, as you are preparing for the descent into the yin time of the year. Empty Mirrorsatisfies all the qualities we look for in an expertly fermented ripe puerh: oily, rich, full-bodied, calming and smooth. This type of tea supports metabolism and digestion, making it ideal as an Earth tea. It also stands alone beautifully as a grounding tea. The ancient trees (200-400 years) yield a pure sweet flavor and you can definitely notice the difference between shou produced from old growth material versus young bushes.
