Corner of Eden

Old Tree Mini Tuocha Shou Puerh
$23.00
Size2oz Mini Tuochas

This tea is just so drinkable. I find myself going to it often when I'm not sure what I want to drink that day, which is always a sign of a deeply satisfying and reliable brew.  Notes of plum, jujube dates and dark chocolatey richness. One tuocha does the trick unless you want a really dark, thick brew. Harvested from Big Leaf Varietal trees at fairly high elevation (1830m) and expertly processed under the supervision of a 70 year old veteran in the world of Puerh tea. The Qi doesn't knock you over, but you notice a gentle uplift. This tea is beyond satisfying for shou puerh lovers.

The ancient trees (200-400 years) yield a pure sweet flavor and you can definitely notice the difference between shou produced from old growth material versus young bushes. The community of microorganisms used by the producers has been steadily evolved for nearly 40 years. It's stable and consistent, which ensures the consistent high quality of each batch. In fact, they don't let visitors near the workshop for fear of contaminating with foreign microorganisms. We're very happy to have found some new shou puerhs produced with old growth material and masterful processing to bring out the best in the teas.

Corner of Eden refers to the darkness of the tea. People often go for teas with big bouquet aromas and flavors, but over time I find that folks tend towards deeper, richer teas. The body of the tea becomes as important if not more, as well as the Qi and energy of the trees. This is a tea that slowly gets moved from the back of the cabinet to the front and over time, becomes a frequent staple for any shou puerh lover.

Yongde Mountain, Lincang, Yunnan - Summer 2024

Living Teas can be steeped many times. Enjoy small cups of tea, re-steeping the same leaves, rather than making a large pot or mug all at once.

Mini Tuochas need one or two steepings to fully open up. Allow more time on the rinse and first steeping, and then do short brews as usual.

· 1 tuocha for a small pot or mug. 2 tuochas for a large pot
· Rinse and first steep 10-20 seconds, then 3-5 seconds for subsequent steepings
· 200-205°F water (not quite boiling)

Did you know?

Benefits of Puerh Tea

For thousands of years, Puerh has been the best multi-functional beverage you've never heard of.

Stress Relief

Puerh tea contains the phyto-chemicals GABA and theanine, which have been attributed to lower stress levels. These phyto-chemicals increase the production of melatonin, which can aid in better sleep and a calmer demeanor throughout the day.

Calm Energy

Thanks to the caffeine in Puerh tea, drinking a cup a day can help to increase your energy levels and focus. Every 8-ounce cup of Puerh contains about 60 to 70 milligrams of caffeine, and the naturally-occurring polyphenols in tea slow the release of caffeine in the body. (Read: No 2pm crash.) Compared to the 105 milligrams in a standard cup of coffee, this makes Puerh a good choice for people who find themselves too jittery after just one cup of coffee.

Increased Immunity

Puerh tea is high in antioxidants, vitamin C, and disease-fighting
catechins. Since Puerh is fermented, it has higher concentrations of these antioxidants than non-fermented teas, supporting your body's ability to maintain high levels of immunity and overall well-being.

Reduced Inflammation

Puerh contains high levels of polyphenols (flavonoids, catechins and theaflavin), which are not only known for their antioxidant activity, but their anti-inflammatory properties as well.

Healthy Gut Microbiome

Because Puerh is fermented, it contains probiotics that when consumed regularly, contribute to a balanced and robust gastrointestinal (GI) system. By regularly drinking Puerh tea, you can help maintain healthy flora throughout your digestive system.
