Sweet Dew - Mengding Ganlu Green Tea - Sichuan Province, China - 1.5 oz
Sweet Dew is a magnificent organic tightly-wisped green tea from Meng Mountain in Southwest China. According to legend, this tea originated with the planting of seven tea bushes by a Taoist master who lived on Meng Mountain around 50 BC. Following his death, five monasteries were founded over time on the five peaks of the mountain. Each Spring, the monks would pick 360 leaves from the original trees and present them as a ceremonial offering to the Emperor.
Whether legend or not, it is understandable why this tea maintained such venerable status over time. The earthy bitterness is balanced by a vegetal sweetness and slight smoky spice, unique to most green teas, creating a stunningly balanced tea. Strong, assertive, fresh and herbaceous, Sweet Dew fills the whole mouth and lingers between steepings. We are only able to obtain a small quantity of the organic Spring flush, and hope you love this beautiful addition to the Living Tea collection.
Brewing: We suggest 15-20 second infusions at 170-180F. This tea is delicate, so we recommend experimenting to find the way you enjoy it most.
