Guiding Cloud - Duyun Maojian Fur Tip Green Tea - Guizhou Province - Spring 2018 1.5oz
Wild-grown, small batch, organic Maojian green tea is rare. We were overjoyed to find these leaves through a friend whose father in China connected us to the farmer. Wild-grown between 1300 and 1700 meters and reflecting the pristine growing environment, this Maojian is refined and delicate. The weather in the growing region is especially mild, with just enough rain and an average temperature of 60°F (16°C) throughout the year. The soil is fertile and moist, containing large amounts of iron and phosphate, great for growing tea. Due to its remote location, it is rare for tea from Guizhou to make it to the West, and we couldn't be happier with this offering.
We suggest brewing with cooler water around 160F-170, which brings out nutty notes and vibrant infusions of aromatic sweet grasses. At a higher temperature, the bitterness becomes more pronounced. This tea is uniquely patient for a green tea, yielding many brews as long as the initial steepings are short.
