Describe your practice and/or why mindfulness is important to you.
Meet Sena Maria
Sena Maria is passionate about working with the fungi realm, cacao & tea to support our collective evolution. She bridges her experience working in tech with the teachings of the plants to support others in reconnecting to nature on her YouTube channel, The Medicine of Being Human, on Instagram @sena__maria, and in workshops.
Since spring has sprung my morning practice is a garden meditation in the sunshine. Sometimes this is a more formal meditation sit, sometimes I bring my tea set up for a luxurious outdoor garden tea ceremony, and sometimes it's simply watching the natural world unfold around me.
What is your highest value and why?
My highest value is authenticity. Because we can't express our authentic self without discernment, clarity, confidence, courage, and a deep self knowledge. I feel we need much more authentic connection in the world!
Describe one health practice that is non-negotiable for you each day
The Ayurvedic practice of abhyanga, or body oiling is a key practice that keeps me grounded, nourished, and soothes my nervous system. It feels like a nourishing protective layer around my body every night before bed.
Describe one tradition that you connect with regularly and why?
I connect with the tradition of tea, and in general connecting with various plants and fungi friends through ritual and ceremony. The tea lineage I've studied has given me beautiful wisdom to incorporate into all aspects of my life.
What's the most common method you use for tea preparation and what are you excited to learn more about?
I brew using the sidehandle method, and I'm excited to learn more about specific brewing methodologies for different types of tea, especially matcha. My favorite Living Teas right now are: Samadhi, Ruby Red, Satori & Golden Sun.
