Describe your practice and/or why mindfulness is important to you.

Meditation helps us realize the spaciousness of the mind. Space is important because without space, there can be no change.
This practice brings presence and vastness. Perhaps we gain a new perspective on our suffering and attachments.
We touch our eternal nature and interconnectedness, even if only for a moment.

What is your highest value and why?

Listening as openness, as presence, with a willingness to learn. Listening beyond words.
Listening not only with our ears, but with our bodies. Resensitizing oneself to the world (both seen and unseen) through listening.

Tradition

Describe one tradition that you connect with regularly and why?

Formally, I'm practicing with matcha in the Urasenke tradition. This tradition has afforded me a deeper appreciation of all aspects of tea and Zen.

Methodology

What's the most common method you use for tea preparation and what are you excited to learn more about?

At home, I often enjoy tea from a side handle pot. I love preparing boiled tea for nature outings. I look forward to learning more about Chabana - such an incredible art form.

My favorite Living Teas include River World, Truth Serum, Shaman's Drum, and Forest Path, to name a few...

Community

Describe one way that you support your community and what would help you to support others more effectively

As a filmmaker and photographer, I support my community through a vast range of creative offerings, including workshops and mentorship. I'm dreaming of creating spaces and art installations to connect with others off of our phones!
