Vis Animalis - Bulang Dian Hong Red Tea 2017 - 2 oz.
The original leaves come from old-growth trees pressed with many fine leaf buds or "golden tips," yielding the characteristic sweet depth of many Dian Hong red teas. One notable quality of this Yunnan red tea is the way that it evolves from steeping to steeping, from briskly sweet to mildly astringent to malty with a thick creamy mouth-filling quality. The heavy oxidation yields a pleasant aroma of fresh fruit and dried apricots with a tannin-rich body. Our experience of this tea is that it has the strong Qi of good Sheng Puerh, but doesn't require the aging because the heavy oxidation releases the deep yang energy of Dian Hong red teas. We especially love this tea on a cool morning to shake off slumber, wake up the vital energies of the body and open to a new day.
