Very fresh, clean, refreshing and gently astringent with floral and citrus notes, Buddha's Palm is the perfect tea for opening up and letting go. Buddha's Palm (Fo Shou) is a lightly oxidized, tightly-balled Oolong from Yongchun County in Fujian, China. This area is also home to Tie Guan Yin Oolong and Yencha Cliff tea, all of which thrive in the terroir of the region, ideally suited for Oolong tea. We found more nutty creaminess with this year's harvest than one often expects with Buddha's Palm. The flavor, aroma, body and color are beautifully balanced.
According to legend, this tea gained its named when it was brewed and prepared for the Buddha on Shi Feng Mountain. One is reminded of the words by Indian mystic and teacher Osho, “To make tea a meditative ceremony is just symbolic. It shows that any mundane activity can become meditation. Digging a hole in the garden, planting new roses in the garden… you can do it with such tremendous love and compassion, you can do it with the hands of the Buddha. There is no contradiction. The tea ceremony is only the beginning. I say unto you: Your every act should be a ceremony. If you can bring your consciousness, your awareness, your intelligence to the act, if you can be spontaneous, then there is no need for any other religion, life itself will be the religion”
Best brewed Gong Fu with very short initial steepings at 185-190 F.
